The Dollar, Redesigned?
Is America in need of a redesign on dollar bills or is it just internet fun? From Barbie Doll and Superman notes, to rainbow bills and even marbles, the Dollar ReDe$ign Project, has brought a lighter side to the current economy. Creative strategist Richard Smith launched this creative free-for-all with the intent “to rebuild our country, revive our economy, redesign the Dollar bill. The Dollar ReDe$ign Project is open to anyone who wants to redesign the US Dollar.”
Some redesign entries so far have been imaginable solutions to a new US currency, some sarcastic, and others have been flat out funny.

The design of Michael Tyznik has been getting a considerable amount of buzz:

Keeping green as the primary color with a vibrant stripe of color is a realistic way to bring life to the classic bill. This redesigned bill also has helpful elements that are seriously lacking in our current system such as imprinted braille. Using the dollar as an education tool is a nice touch as well, but printing the text of the Bill of Rights on the back of each note.
Whether or not this money-movement has any influence on the future of the US currency, we know we can’t wait to see more redesigned dollars.

The article is usefull for me. I’ll be coming back to your blog.
Nice insight. And I agree, the last design is great. It doesn’t blatantly ignore the history of the dollar bill and it doesn’t blatantly mimic bills from other countries. (which seems to be the big complaint, it’s not as “cool” as say those in Europe) It’s smart. Well designed. and most of all respectful. I really, really dig it.
But a bigger one probably looms over it. Like, who carrys cash anymore? Not me. So does that make this all moot?
